Whether you’re a seasoned diver planning your next big trip, a curious traveler searching for an adventure, or an environmentally conscious diver looking to make every dive count for the oceans. Choosing the right dive center is very important. In most diving destinations, there are many dive shops to choose from. It can be tempting to choose the first one you see. Yet there are important things you should consider before taking the plunge.

Look for Recommendations

TripAdvisor is a great resource while planning your travels. ScubaBoard is also a good source to look at. You can find helpful tips or recommendations for finding a PADI-accredited dive center.

Be an Eco-tourist

In todays chaotic world it is imperative that we support companies that are passionate about having a positive environmental impact. The Green Fins website is a great resource to find dive operations who are doing their part for the oceans. The active members of this organisation aim to protect and conserve coral reefs through environmentally friendly guidelines.

Getting certified

If you’re looking to do a PADI open water certifications, check here at Prochek.  The instructor should be in active teaching status. If you’re already travelling

When travelling, you should start with searching your area for PADI-accredited dive shops. If you have time to visit a few shops before deciding, go for it. Ask about the staff’s certification levels. If you see any red flags then don’t be afraid to walk away. At this point, you can compare a few dive shops and make a decision based on what kind of experience you want to have.

Comparing costs

Price shouldn’t be a deciding factor when choosing a scuba diving shop. Diving can be pretty risky, so you want to make sure that you aren’t choosing the cheapest shop to save some money. You get what you pay for. Never put your need to save money over your safety. Always make sure you know what the price includes. Do you have to pay extra for rental gear, fuel for the boat, or the certification fee?

There is no such thing as too much research when searching for a dive center that fits your needs. With any important decision like this one, you should feel comfortable with the proposed safety and experience. Also, the dive operation should value environmental stewardship. These tips will help you find a shop that will help your next dive be an exciting adventure.  After reading all of this and did your research, would you like to make a reservation with Abyss Ocean World ?
