Bacan Island

Visit an old Portuguese fort, assist to a traditional dancing and visit a local market. This beautiful excursion is organized by the Tourism Department of South Halmahera. Stunning wall diving and canyon dives are to be expected in this region. Warning: they are open to the ocean so we can expect some currents. It’s a coral haven down there though : soft corals, sea fans, and large coral heads decorate the coral gardens where you can see reef sharks, schools of barracudas and jacks, napoleons, and bumphead parrotfish.

Pantini Strait

Access: Boat   |  Dive type: Channel   |  Depth: 30 meters   |  Current: Mild to Strong

Pantini Strait is a channel between Halmahera and Bacan Island. Covered in orange soft corals and large coral heads, these healthy reefs are rarely visited. The multitude of colourful anthias add the excitement of these dive sites. Currents can bring in reef sharks including grey reefs, tuna and barracuda.

Goraici Islands

Access: Boat   |  Dive type: Slopes   |  Depth: 25 meters   |  Current: Mild to Medium

Hello beautiful white sandy beaches. Hello black tip and reef sharks. The reefs are packed with fish and there are pristine hard coral gardens.

South Halmahera

Access: Boat   |  Dive type: Pinnacle   |  Depth: 30 meters   |  Current: Mild to Medium

In South Halmahera there are pinnacles, walls and coral gardens to enjoy. The pinnacles are full of schooling fish, the walls covered in stunning soft corals and sea fans and reef sharks swim around the coral gardens. Hello muck diving which reminds us of the Lembeh Strait, in North Sulawesi.
